EU legal-guarantee notice versus the GARAN durability label

Two graphics that require separate review

European Commission materials present the harmonised legal-guarantee notice and the GARAN label as distinct consumer-guarantee information tools. Their legal scope, qualifying conditions, required content and use must be checked against the authoritative text and the facts of the relevant product, guarantee, transaction and country. This article does not decide those questions.

Notice27 1.2 does not assess whether a guarantee qualifies for GARAN and does not generate or place the GARAN label. This resource is general information only; obtain qualified advice for the relevant product, guarantee and country.

Why one cannot stand in for the other

Displaying the legal-guarantee notice does not establish that a separate GARAN label applies, and a GARAN decision cannot substitute for reviewing the legal-guarantee notice. Treating one graphic as proof about the other would turn a display step into a legal conclusion that Notice27 is not designed or authorised to make.

The implementation inputs also need to remain separate. Stable Notice27 1.2 works with a merchant-selected, language-specific legal-guarantee notice file and selected WooCommerce surfaces. It has no fields for GARAN facts, no eligibility rules, no product or variation classification, and no generator for a product-specific label. Do not copy a generic GARAN graphic into a catalogue through Notice27.

The safe Notice27 product boundary

Use Notice27 only for its evidenced purpose: displaying a supplied legal-guarantee notice on selected WooCommerce purchase surfaces after the merchant has assessed applicability. Do not use its settings, a successful render, or this article as evidence that a product or guarantee falls within GARAN or any other legal category.

Keep a separate, professionally reviewed process for any GARAN question. Record the product and guarantee facts, the target country, the authoritative sources and the person responsible for the decision. If the answer is unknown or still under review, preserve that uncertainty instead of converting it into a catalogue-wide label or a marketing claim.

Record the version and access date because guidance and consolidated legal texts can change. A source link is evidence of what was reviewed, not an automatic answer for a particular transaction.

Do not describe Notice27 as a GARAN generator, eligibility checker, compliance engine or substitute for counsel. Its current stable product boundary is intentionally narrower, and the private candidate does not add production GARAN assessment, generation or placement.
